A thrilling and big-hearted adaptation of author Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved classic, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment brings director Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle In Time— starring Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon—onto DVD and Blu-Ray. Check out the bonus material as you relive your favorite moments from the movie!

As we previously mentioned, young Meg Murry (Storm Reid) finds herself embarking on a transformative journey. She is joined by her little brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and their friend Calvin (Levi Miller). They will travel across dimensions of time and space in search of her missing father. Three mysterious celestial guides named Mrs. Who (Kaling), Mrs. Which (Winfrey), and Mrs. Whatsit (Witherspoon) will help them find what they desire the most.

Here are 5 reasons why you should picked A Wrinkle In Time on DVD:

5) Storm Reid!

Not only does she have to look the part of a quiet and insecure nerdy girl, Storm Reid has to deliver the shock and awe of witnessing a visually eye-catching and  surreal dimension. In the film’s message of self-love, Reid’s Meg learns how to push away society’s put-downs and learn to cherish her gorgeous curls.

4) Oprah!!!

I’m still surprised that DuVernay gave direction to Oprah! Only a handful of filmmakers get to direct Oprah, like Steven Spielberg and Jonathan Demme, and now DuVernay is on the list! Winfrey, Witherspoon, and Kaling look amazing in their bejeweled and fantastical costumes! I love the little details added to their eclectic hair and make-up!

3) Tessering!

What I love about the book and movie is its cherished appreciation for science. How do you jump instantaneously across the universe? The film grounds its own big ideas of tessering to the real-life theories about fast-traveling across the universe.

2) A Wonderful Message!

At its core, the message of A Wrinkle In Time comes from the heroine’s quest to learn to recognize her insecurities and embrace her faults. DuVernay and screenwriter Jennifer Lee even reveal how bullies have pain of their own; the popular girl has self-image issues too. The best ideas always come from within.
