With Back 40 Pictures behind the remake, the first footage of actress Laura Vandervoort has been revealed from the upcoming horror film, Rabid. In the remake of of David Cronenberg’s 1977 classic horror film, the Soska Sisters will seamlessly bring together body horror and the glamorous world of high fashion.

As we previously mentioned, Rose (Vandervoort) is a young woman who suffers a disfigurement after an accident. This leads her to a radical and untested stem-cell treatment. While turning Rose into the belle of the ball, the experimental transformation also comes with a deadly price.

Here are 5 reasons we’re excited for Rabid:

5) First Clips!

Jen and Sylvia Soska spoke to CBC Player about their highly anticipated remake. The interview with the female horror directors also included clips for audiences to see.

4) Taking Down Stereotypes!

In the video, the American Mary filmmakers discuss how they are changing the horror genre. Horror has been accused of stereotyping women as either sex objects or victims. With women taking a seat in the director’s chair, the genre itself is taking an evolutionary leap.

3) Rose!

As we mentioned before, we saw an image of Rose looking real sad as she sits on the floor of her fancy apartment. The round tables are full of old magazines and other random coloring stuff. Did she put her toothbrush in her drink!?! (I’d say “Get it, girl! But that’s just nasty!)

2) The Ensemble Cast!

CM Punk joined the flick in the role of Billy. In the footage, we see Billy (Punk) getting bit by Rose. Rose and Billy can also be seen getting really frisky in the swimming pool. That’s right! Get it, girl!

1) Queen!

In another clip, we see Vandervoort doing her own boss queen walk! In the middle of the night, she appears to be walking by herself, wearing a fur jacket and big black sunglasses.

Back 40 Pictures will handle the theatrical distribution duties. We anxiously await to hear news of the release date of Rabid.
