Actress, producer, and screenwriter Lena Waithe will be examining the self-expressive fashion behind sneaker culture in You Ain’t Got These. Thanks to Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi, audiences will find an entertaining and provocative study with this unscripted offering.
Revealing how a shoe is never just a shoe, the series will examine the subtexts of race, politics, class, gender, creativity, commerce, addiction, and self-expression that go into every pair. The narrative is told through the prismatic lens of the characters, who define a unique sub-culture that is on the verge of going mainstream.
5) Quibi!
Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi is in the process of adding its roster of short form content. The content will come from producers including Guillermo Del Toro, Sam Raimi, Jason Blum, and Antoine Fuqua. First off comes the unscripted offering of You Ain’t Got These, from Emmy-winning Master of None actress.

You Ain’t Got These is produced by Boardwalk Pictures, the award-winning production company who specializes in non-fiction storytelling. Lena Waithe, Andrew Fried, Jordan Wynn, Jonathan Hausfater, Andrew Coles and Dane Lillegard are among those serving as Executive Producers.

Andrew Fried tells The Hollywood Reporter, “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Lena. She is a singular creative voice of her generation, and her passion for this subject is infectious,” Fried said. “Jeffrey Katzenberg has always been at the forefront of whatever is next in the entertainment industry. Quibi presents the opportunity to tell stories and reach audiences in a unique way and we are excited to be among the first unscripted series on this new platform.”
2) She’s A Sneaker-Head!
The Ready Player One has more than 100 pairs of sneakers. Waithe mentioned her shoe obsession in the recent Nike’s “Shoe Therapy” campaign. (Watch that, below.) Waithe also got a pair of sneakers as a gift from her fiancee, instead of a ring after she proposed.
