With the premiere date set, TNT teases their upcoming adaptation of The Alienist with a new stylish poster and thrilling trailer. The bestselling novel by author Caleb Carr will reinvent the murder mystery again as a 10-part limited series.

A series of murders against prostitutes haunt New York City. The newly appointed police commissioner, Theodore Roosevelt (Brian Geraghty), calls upon criminal psychologist, Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl) and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) to conduct their secret investigation. The duo is joined by Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), a headstrong secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective. Together they use the their emerging disciplines of psychology and forensics to  apprehend one of New York’s first serial killers.

Here are 5 reasons we’re excited to watch The Alienist on TNT:

5) Inglorious Bastards!

Actor Daniel Brühl gave a breakout performance while delivering Quentin Tarantino’s snappy dialogue in Inglorious Bastards. Born in Barcelona, Spain, did you know Brüh also spoke in Spanish in the dubbed version of the same movie? Very excited to see what he does here!

4) He’s Gaston!

Luke Evans played Gaston in the live-action Beauty and the Beast. You can trust Evans to play the big bads like he did in the Fast & Furious blockbuster movies. I’m excited to see Evan’s characterization of John Moore and how he brings him to life.

3) She’s On Fire!

For I Am Sam, Dakota Fanning went to two different types of action schools, one with Sean Penn and the other with Michelle Pfeiffer. She learned from the very best and it tells when you see her acting beside Denzel Washington in Man on Fire.

2) True Detective!

Did you love the first season of True Detective? Every episode of the first season was directed by Cary Fukunaga. And now, we will see Fukunaga’s style all over The Alienist as executive producer. It’s going to be awesome!
