A popular hit among action fans, AMC has set the highly anticipated Season 3 premiere of of their martial arts/fantasy drama, Into The Badlands, starring Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider) and Emily Beecham (Hail, Caesar!). Get ready for the visually striking fight sequences that action junkies will definitely be talking about!
Into the Badlands is a genre-blending story of survival and dominance set in a future feudal society. Within the territory known as the Badlands, a variety of clans struggle for supremacy over one another. These clans have been formed by the destruction of familial bonds and skirmishes over power.
[Spoilers: We’ll be talking what happened in Season 2 of Into the Badlands from here on out] Here are 5 reasons we’re excited for the Season 3 premiere of Into the Badlands:
5) The Widower!
Sunny (Wu) has living off the grid, doing his best to provide for his infant son, Henry, in the wake of Veil’s death. When Henry contracts a mysterious illness, Sunny joins forces with Bajie (Nick Frost) and journey back into the Badlands. I’m really glad Fiost is back because it means Bajie somehow survived that season two cliffhanger!
4) The Widow!
One of my favorite characters on the show is The Widow (Beecham)! The Widow and Baron Chau (Eleanor Matsuura) are now entrenched in a drawn-out war that has destabilized the entire region. No longer supported by Tilda (Ally Ioannides) or Waldo (Stephen Lang), The Widow must find new allies in Lydia (Orla Brady) and in Nathaniel Moon (Sherman Augustus) — the former regent who lost his hand to Sunny and Bajie.
3) A New Big Bad!?!
After Quinn (Marton Csokas) met his end by Sunny, who could be the new big bad? Could it be the mysterious nomadic leader called Pilgrim (Babou Ceesay)? When Pilgrim arrives in the Badlands, he is on a mission to restore Azra and usher in a new era. Will the old enemies band together to defend the Badlands?
2) An Extended Third Season!
The first season was 6 episodes, then second season was 10 episodes. AMC has renewed their martial arts drama with an expanded 16-episode for the third season. Get ready for more action, more plot twists!
1) The Creators!
If you loved Smallville, you’re going to love what executive producers and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have in store!
Season 1 and 2 of Into the Badlands can be seen on Netflix. Season 3 of Into the Badlands premieres Sunday April 22nd, 2018 at 10:00 pm on AMC.
