After teasing the upcoming Suits spinoff, USA Network will air highly anticipated premiere of Pearson, starring Gina Torres and Morgan Spector. After leaving her law firm behind in New York, will Jessica Pearson (Torres) rise through the ranks of Chicago’s political world?
As we previously mentioned, the spinoff will follow Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she adjusts to her new life in the Windy City. Jessica finds herself being forced to enter the dirty world of Chicago politics. Pearson must then rely on her legal wits and valiant relationships from Pearson Specter Litt to navigate this unknown territory.
Here are 5 reasons why you should watch Pearson:
5) Gina Torres!
After playing Jessica Pearson in Suits for so many seasons, as a fan, I expect Gina Torres to be fierce, sassy, and dominating the screen. I love that in the backdoor pilot, we got to see Pearson interact with her estranged family. I’m looking forward to seeing how the USA drama explores Jessica’s backstory further.
4) This Ain’t New York!
I love the location switching from New York and Chicago. Suits did a great job location scouting though the trendy restaurants and flashy bars, without making tourist stops. I want the thing to happen with Pearson. As a viewer, I want to be wowed by the exteriors of Chicago; without feeling like a tourist.
3) Morgan Spector!
Audiences were introduced to Mayor Bobby Golec (Spector) in the backdoor pilot. There’s such a shadiness to the character, I can’t tell for sure if he’s going to be the Big Bad of the season. I’m also wondering if Spector was influenced by a real-life politician for his performance.
1) The Pearson Cast!
I want to see this supporting cast step up when they share screen time with a powerhouse like Gina Torres! Chantel Riley plays Angela Cook, the certified Nursing Assistant and Jessica’s cousin. Isabel Arraiza plays Yoli Castillo, Jessica’s passionate assistant. Eli Goree plays Derrick Mayes, Mayor Bobby Golec’s young press secretary and a former journalist. Prosecutor Keri Allen, the unofficial right hand to the mayor, will be played by Joy Lenz.
1) It’s Not Suits!
I loved how the backdoor pilot told me right off the bat that this wasn’t a repeat of Suits. This is about Jessica Pearson making power plays and putting unscrupulous men in their place. Even cinematography for the show looks edgier, just like Jessica.
Pearson and the final season of Suits will premiere on Wednesday, July 17 starting at 9pm on USA Network.
