Universal Pictures Home Entertainment brings the monster extravaganza, Colossal starring Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis, onto DVD and Blu-Ray. An instant classic, audiences will definitely enjoy the unique and fantastical sci-fi/horror comedy.
Colossal follows Gloria (Anne Hathaway) as sh drinks too hard and parties too much. Her boyfriend has enough of her drunkenness and throws her out. Gloria returns to her hometown and revives her childhood friendship with Oscar (Jason Sudeikis). After drinking a night away with Oscar and his friends, Gloria wakes up to discover a gigantic monster rampaging through Seoul. She slowly realizes that the hideous monster is somehow connected to her.
5) Anne Hathaway
Hathaway does a fanatastic job capturing the emotional roller-coaster ride within Gloria. Stuck within her arrested adolescence, Gloria struggles to redeem herself as she continuously fails to stay sober. Playing the anti-heroine, the Rachel Getting Married actress manages to be both sympathetic and deeply flawed.
4) Jason Sudeikis
Mostly known for his comedic work in Saturday Night Live, Jason Sudeikis has the charisma in him to do drama as well. Sudeikis instinctively knows he’s deconstructing the romantic-comedy tropes. Notice how he manages to be both chilling and humorous as his nice-guy persona burns down his own bar.
3) Nacho Vigalondo
Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo crafted a compelling sci-fi thriller that creatively plays around with the rules of time travel. My personal favorite of Vigalondo’s works is Open Windows starring Elijah Wood and Sasha Grey. Open Windows has a style all its own as the narrative is ambitiously told entirely through webcams.
2) Dan Stevens
Is there anything this man cannot do?!? Dan Stevens is an unstoppable killer in The Guest. He then becomes a maniac on the loose, who may or may not be the son of a powerful mutant in FX’s Legion. As Tim, the Beauty and the Beast actor plays around with the concept of the romantic lead, who’s supposed to save the damsel in distress.
