Before the Disney adaptation hits theaters, director Ava DuVernay will take part in the special movie edition of the sci-fi fantasy novel, A Wrinkle In Time (Macmillan). With the feature film heading our way, readers should take a look at how author Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved classic started it all!
A Wrinkle In Time follows young Meg Murry (Storm Reid) as she finds herself embarking on a transformative journey. She is joined by her little brother Charles Wallace and their friend Calvin. They will travel across dimensions of time and space in search of her missing father. Three mysterious celestial guides named Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Whatsit will help them find what they desire the most.
Here are 5 reasons why you should picked the movie edition of A Wrinkle In Time:
5) Ava DuVernay’s Foreword!

The Selma filmmaker will be writing a new foreword to the latest edition. On her official Twitter account, DuVernay explains the book’s empowering message, “It’s about fathers + daughters, girls learning to believe in themselves and each of us bringing light to the universe in our own way.”
4) Oprah!!!
Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which are played by an all-star cast, which includes Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Oprah Winfrey, respectively. Say with me now, “You get screen time! And you get screen time! And you get screen time!”

Not only will the special edition have an introduction by DuVernay, there will also be eight pages of photos from the feature film.
2) Quantum Physics!
Talk about visionary because A Wrinkle In Time dives into quantum physics and tesseracts without going over the reader’s head. I can’t wait to see how the movie dives into L’Engle’s concepts of cosmology and non-linear time.
1) The 1963 Novel Is Still Relevant!
Though the book was published in the ‘60s, the themes are still relevant to today’s culture. Every now and then, a new generations discovers the novel, reads L’Engle’s words, and imagine themselves in its sci-fi world.
Readers can preorder their copy of the movie edition now. A Wrinkle in Time arrives in theaters on March 9, 2018.
