After taking the stage at New York Comic Con, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment presents the first look at Batman: Gotham by Gaslight with an action-packed trailer. This DC original animated movie is based on Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Brian Augustyn‘s popular Elseworlds comic book.
In an age of mystery and superstition, how would the innocent people of Gotham react to a weird creature of the night? How does a bat-garbed vigilante during this time period become feared by the guilty and the innocent alike? The very first Elseworlds tale re-imagines the Dark Knight detective in Victorian times. The Bat-Man pits himself against the infamous murderer known as Jack the Ripper.
Here are 5 Easter Eggs Spotted in Batman: Gotham By Gaslight:
5) The Robins!
During the recent New York Comic Con, we saw the confrontation between Batman and a group pre-teen street thieves. The street punks happen to be named Jason Todd (Red Hood), Tim Drake (Red Robin), and Dick Grayson (Nightwing). This is an awesome fight scene that you definitely have to see!
4) Catwoman!
Director Sam Liu portrays the anti-heroine Selina Kyle as an upper-class socialite. In one of the scenes, Selina even takes out her signature whip during her standoff again the Ripper. Kyle will be voiced by Jennifer Carpenter (Quarantine).
3) That’s Bruce Greenwood!
The last time we saw Bruce Greenwood, he was playing Gerald’s Game with Carla Gugino. Greenwood returns to play the DC Comics superhero after voicing him in Batman: Under the Red Hood and the Young Justice series.
2) Leslie Thompkins!
In the Batman Universe, Leslie Thompkins, took care of young Bruce Wayne after he lost his parents. In Gotham By Gaslight, Leslie Thompkins is now a nun in the period drama. Thompkins has to become involved when a serial killer is preying on defenseless woman.
1) Who’s Jack The Ripper?
The caped crusader will face-off against the infamous serial killer, who happens to be wearing a mask as well. We’re not sure if the animated adaptation will follow Elseworlds comic’s ending but we have our own guesses. Because this is set within the Batman universe, could Jack The Ripper be Harvey Dent’s alternate personality or the psychopath known as The Joker?
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in February 6th 2018.
