Dwayne Johnson lands on the cover of GQ, as the definitive men’s magazine presents its upcoming 2017 Comedy Issue. Forever known as The Rock, Johnson dishes on his own comedic hops before his new movie, Baywatch, hits theaters.
In the GQ profile, the ex-wrestler discusses how his career path has transitioned from sports, comedy, action, and voicing cartoon characters. He even contemplates if holding a position in the White House is in the cards for him.
Here are 5 takeaways from The Rock in the Comedy Issue:
1. Words To Remember By The Rock
“I believe in our national security to the core, but I don’t believe in a ‘ban’ that bans immigrants. I believe in inclusion. Our country was built on that”
2. Gym Time Is Me Time
The Scorpion King explains why being in the gym should be a place of solace, “[T]he biggest reason for this [seclusion] is that my gym time is really the only time I have an opportunity to be away from the public and by myself. So I get a lot of work done in here. Not only training. It becomes my meditation. Nobody bothers me here.”
3. The Rock Has a New Agent!
Seeking out new roles, the former WWE champion seeks out a new agent. You wouldn’t believe what the agent to the stars, Tituss Burgess (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) has in store for him! Johnson ends up getting gigs in the Home Alone, Goodfellas, and Napoleon Dynamite sequels!
4. He Will Lay The Smackdown On The 45th!
The Ballers actor describes how a real President should behave, “Personally, I feel that if I were president, poise would be important. Leadership would be important. Taking responsibility for everybody. [If I didn’t agree with someone] on something, I wouldn’t shut them out. I would actually include them. The first thing we’d do is we’d come and sit down and we’d talk about it. It’s hard to categorize right now how I think he’s doing, other than to tell you how I would operate, what I would like to see.”
5. A Reminder To See Baywatch!
As we previously mentioned, the reboot of the hit TV show follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) and his brash new recruit (Efron). At times, they end up butting heads, even while trying to save lives. The reluctant duo team-up when they uncover a criminal plot that threatens the future of the bay.
Baywatch hits theaters on May 25th, 2017. The Comedy Issue, featuring Dwayne Johnson on the cover of GQ, arrives June 2017.
