From Evil Dead, Ash witnessed his only friends become possessed by demons. After living at a retirement home in Bubba Ho-Tep, Elvis Presley found himself too old to fight against an ancient evil Mummy. After fighting against each other, they suddenly found themselves attacked by the Deadites.

Writer Scott Duvall deliver a younger and stronger Elvis Presley as Ash travels back into the ‘70s. Duvall does a great capturing two vibrant personalities in the witty dialogue. Letterer Taylor Esposito does a fantastic job highlighting the raunchy humor as both leads attempt to understand the Necronomicon Ho-Tep. 

The illustrations flow with a a cinematic style thanks to artist Vincenzo Federici. Federici delivers a hyper-stylish action sequence with high-flying kung-fu kicks and shotgun blasts. I totally loved seeing a younger and faster Evil Presley as a martial arts expert.  

I love Michele Monte’s trippy colors throughout the backgrounds of Las Vegas. Notice how the page is full of blue and gray tones as Ash puts on one of Elvis’ flashy suits. Notice how Elvis’ anger is represented in a bright red tone when he enters backstage. 

An action-packed installment, Army Of Darkness Vs. Bubba Ho-Tep #2 has a lot of fun with its two leading protagonists. Army Of Darkness Vs. Bubba Ho-Tep captures the cinematic flair and style of both fan-favorite horror franchises.
