Epic Pictures and DREAD deliver their hilarious and blood-fueled Book of Monsters, starring Lyndsey Craine and Michaela Longden, onto Blu-Ray. Check out the bonus extras after watching this crazy fun horror flick about monsters crashing an 18-year-old’s party!
Sophie (Lyndsey Craine)’s 18th birthday becomes a bloodbath when monsters descend upon her house, devouring the guests and killing anyone who tries to leave. To survive the night, Sophie must face her destiny: monsters are real and she’s the only one who can stop them.
Here are 5 reasons why you should get Book of Monsters Blu-Ray:
5) The Cast!
Just like in my review, I am proudly going to gush over this wonderful cast once more. Craine engages viewers as the social awkward Sophie, who gradually reclaims her confidence. Craine’s chemistry with Rose Muirhead allows audiences to see how the relationship between Jess (Muirhead) and Sophie grow organically onscreen. Full of energy and wit, Michaela Longden is just incredible to watch as Mona. Capturing the look and attitude, Lizzie Aaryn-Stanton gives so much personality and charm as goth girl Beth.
4) Empowerment!
The main theme of empowerment really comes through in Paul Butler’s screenplay. High school is hell, which is why it’s so difficult to find your own identity. The ensemble cast really wowed me with their performances, I can’t wait to see what they do next!
3) The Monsters!
So much detail went into the look behind The Beast, The Slasher, The Abomination, and The Jinn. The striking cinematography by Hamish Saks does a fantastic job giving enough light on them and capturing them in the shadows. The best part is watching the trio of leads fighting the Slasher.
2) The Horror!
Aided by Paul Butler’s clever script, director Stewart Sparke has put together an amazing cast that nails their roles. Sparke will shock the audiences when the body count starts rolling. I was definitely reacting to the bloody scenes when bodies are split in half.
