With the premiere set to take place in a few months, get ready for the highly anticipated new play, The Last Bar at the End of the World, an existential tragicomedy from cartoonist Dean Haspiel about a dying graphic novelist. Demonstrate your support for the theatre and the arts by checking out the play’s Indiegogo campaign.
The Last Bar at the End of the World follows a dying graphic novelist, his best friend, and the sages, teachers, lovers, and losers. These are the people that fill up this novelist’s cityscape. This is a play that asks the universal questions, “Why are we here and what do we have to do to move on?”
Here are 5 reasons why you should support The Last Bar at the End of the World on Indiegogo:
5) The Writer!
As an emerging theatrical voice, Haspiel’s previous works included a critically acclaimed sold-out run of Harakiri Kane. This summer, Image Comics will also release the upcoming June collection of Haspiel’s webcomic in The Red Hook, Volume 1: New Brooklyn. An Emmy winner for Bored to Death’s main title design, Haspiel is also known for his collaborations with writer Harvey Pekar on his American Splendor series.
4) The Ensemble Cast!
The play is directed by Philip Cruise. Expect stellar performances by Philip Cruise, Tarik Davis, Lex Friedman, Seth Gilliam, Christopher Lee, Edward Miller, Alyssa Simon, Anna Stefanic, and Stoya. If you love The Walking Dead and The Wire, then you have to see what Seth Gilliam does here!
3) Keep Independent Theater Alive!
The contributions will be used to pay for actor/designer stipends, set design and construction costs, rehearsal space, costume/lighting design, and marketing.
2) The Perks!
According to the Indiegogo page, contributors get a Thank You in the program and a signed copy of Fear, My Dear. I’m pretty sure you’re going to want a signed posted by the cast and author too! Get your tickets too with your support!
