Skyline Entertainment and Steel House Productions deliver the intensely gripping supernatural thriller, The ToyBox, starring Denise Richards and Mischa Barton. Director Tom Nagel captures such emotionally charged performances, along with a few creepy scares, inside a haunted RV.
Jennifer (Denise Richards) and her family go on a summer road trip in a used RV with her husband’s estranged father and brother. Along the way, they find Samantha (Mischa Barton) and her brother, broken down on the side of the highway. After driving into the middle of nowhere, the RV takes on a mind of its own, crashing and stranding them in the scorching and isolated desert. Little by little, the unsuspecting group of travelers is blindsided by the terrible secrets within the walls of the RV and find themselves fighting to survive.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see The ToyBox:
5) Denise Richards!
The charismatic energy that Richards brings to the horror flick is very exciting! Richards has such a natural presence as she plays the caring maternal figure, Jennifer. Such a great lead, Richards delivers a stellar performance that will demand audience recognition.
4)Mischa Barton!
When playing Samantha, Barton adds a whole other color to the movie as well! She brings an eager determination to every horror sequence. With such emotional scenes, Barton is able to capture Samantha’s entire mood with one fierce look.
3) The RV!
Every camera angle matters because the possessed RV is a character all its own. I’m impressed with how director Tom Nagel captured the claustrophobia and paranoia from Jeff Denton and Jeff Miller’s screenplay. A fun fact for indie filmmakers, cinematographer Ken Stachnik shot on a $2,000 Sony Alpha camera and with Rokinon Lenses, which are available on Amazon.
2) Great Characters!
Without saying too much, the film hits another level when terrible secrets are revealed. The ensemble cast have such great chemistry with each other, which is why these plot twists work so well. The fast-paced editing has a punch all its own during the kill scenes.
1) A Creepy Thriller!
The ToyBox is a moody and creepy thriller that delivers memorable performances from its starlets. Wonderfully cast in their roles, Denise Richards and Mischa Barton deserve major credit for creating such authentic characters.
The ToyBox will open in Los Angeles at Laemmle’s NoHo 7 on September 14th for a week run. On September 18th, the film will be available nationwide on Blu-ray and DVD.
