Ojala Productions delivers a terrifying eco-horror thriller, Strange Nature, starring Lisa Sheridan, and Stephen Tobolowsky. In his directorial debut, FX maestro James Ojala (Hellboy II: The Golden Army) manages to provide the bone-chilling scares and capture the moving performances of a family drama.
By moving in with her estranged hermit father in the backwoods of a small town, Kim (Lisa Sheridan) and son Brody (Jonah Beres) find themselves in the middle of a horrendous phenomenon where deadly offspring mutations spread from animals to humans.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see Strange Nature:
5) Lisa Sheridan!
As Kim, Lisa Sheridan portrays a struggling single mother, reluctantly forced to reconnect with her estranged father. But when her son is in trouble, Sheridan turns Kim into a badass fighter, who’s unafraid to get her hands dirty. I loved seeing Sheridan fight back as she reloaded her shotgun!
4) John Hennigan!
John Hennigan, aka my favorite wrestler Johnny Mundo, proved he could be an action star in Minutes to Midnight. And now in Strange Nature, Hennigan delivers such an engaging charisma as the antagonist, Sam. I love how this role allows Hennigan to explore his range.
3) The Special Effects!
You have a dog with two heads. And then you have a man’s face mixed with a frog’s. The special effects, makeup and prosthetics, really standout when presented on camera. These gruesome mutations will really get a twisted reaction from viewers!
2) The Social Commentary!
Writer/director James Ojala does a fanatic job portraying a small town with dirty secrets. Jonah Beres and Lisa Sheridan have such a natural chemistry on-camera together as mother and son. Without being preachy, Ojala’s eco-thriller also demonstrates a major lesson of what happens when you mess with mother nature.
1) A Terrifying Eco-Thriller!
With a solid cast, Strange Nature delivers bone-chilling makeup effects and terrifying scares that will freak out audiences! Readers, even wrestling fans, should definitely check this one out!
Strange Nature arrives into theaters from September 22nd, 2018 (Los Angeles with other cities to follow).
