As the “Hellmouth” crossover event continues, Buffy The Vampire Slayer #10 (BOOM! Studios) presents the rise of another supernatural hunter in the upcoming apocalypse. Based on Joss Whedon’s groundbreaking series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, the pop culture phenomenon continues to explore new heights.
With Buffy in Hell, someone new has answered the call to save what’s left of Sunnydale. Who is this mysterious new Slayer? And how will the new blood cope with a team made up of a newly empowered witch and a half-human, half-vampire sidekick?
Here are 5 reasons why you should get Buffy The Vampire Slayer #10:
5) What Happened Before!
The Hellmouth has been opened thanks to the efforts of Drusilla and Spike. Warned in advance of what’s to come, Angel, the vampire without a soul, arrived in the nick of time to rescue a few of the Sunnydale High students. Just when they have teamed up to fight a greater evil, Angel and Buffy were dragged into the Hellmouth.
4) The Writing!
Writer Jordie Bellaire explores a world without Buffy and introduces readers to the new slayer, Kendra, and her watcher, Robin Wood. At 16, Robin has to deal with the responsibilities of an adult and accept Buffy may not be returning from Hell. Letterer Ed Dukeshire bolds certain words to highlight the naive and headstrong personalities between Kendra and Robin.
3) The Artwork!
Artists David López captures the suspense and claustrophobic atmosphere when Cordelia Chase finds herself kidnapped. With her wrists tied up, Cordelia is trapped inside a cramped basement. This isn’t a vampire she should be afraid of; this is a human being gone insane.
2) The Colors!
Notice how Raul Angulo uses color to differentiate the wardrobe between Robin and Kendra. Robin is always wearing purple, whether its shorts or a vest. Kendra stands out in the pages with her red flannel shirt.
1) A Solid Read!
Buffy The Vampire Slayer #10 is a solid read that kickstarts an origin story! I’m very excited to see Kendra in action!
Buffy The Vampire Slayer #10 arrives in stores December 4th, 2019.
