Netflix has released the Season 5 trailer to their upcoming gangster/family drama, Peaky Blinders, starring Cillian Murphy. In the lawless streets of Birmingham, Tommy Shelby (Murphy) continues his transformation from backstreet crime lord to legitimate businessman and a member of parliament.
Thomas Shelby and his family have bigger ambitions than just running the streets. It all began when a crate of guns went missing. Tommy recognized an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but running a legitimate business pays better.
Here are 5 Reasons why we love the trailer to fifth season of Peaky Blinders:
5) Someone Wants My Crown!
I love how the trailer starts out with Tommy Shelby (Murphy) stating, “When I sleep, I dream. And in my dream, someone wants my crown.” It’s such a great line of dialogue! I just want to say it while drinking my morning cup of coffee!
4) The Seeds You Have Sown!
Somewhere out in the field, there is a scarecrow dressed up like Tommy and wearing his clothes. There is a letter written especially for him. After reading what’s inside, Shelby has no choice but to grab his tommy gun and start shooting.
3) Wall Street!
According to Deadline, the fifth season will take place during the Wall Street crash of 1929. Showrunner Steven knight reveals the Shelby family will be “seriously affected because they’ve invested their legitimate money and are going to have to fall back on the illegitimate money.”
2) The New Cast!
As we previously mentioned, there will be some few faces this fifth season. The new cast includes Sam Claflin as Oswald Mosley, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray, Brian Gleeson as Jimmy McCavern, Neil Maskell as Winston Churchill, Kate Dickie as Mother Superior, Cosmo Jarvis as Barney, and Emmett J. Scanlan as Billy Grade.
1) The Familiar Faces!
Some returning faces include Helen McCrory as Polly Gray, Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne (Shelby), Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Kate Phillips as Linda Shelby, Natasha O’Keeffe as Lizzie Stark, Aidan Gillen as Aberama Gold, Jack Rowan as Bonnie Gold, Charlie Murphy as Jessie Eden, Kingsley Ben-Adir as Col. Ben Younger, Harry Kirtonas Finn Shelby, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Ian Peck as Curly, and poet/musician Benjamin Zephaniah as Jeremiah Jesus.
