From start to finish, DREAD’s They’re Inside, starring Karli Hall and Amanda Kathleen Ward, keeps the heart pounding with every macabre twist and turn. Writer/director John-Paul Panelli creates a constant sense of tension that strikes the viewer’s jugular with an unsettling ending.
When two sisters go to an isolated cabin in the woods to film a passion project, family secrets start to get in the way…as do masked strangers filming a passion project of their own.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see They’re Inside:
5) Karli Hall!
Karli Hall has such a charismatic presence when she steps into her character, Robin. Interestingly, Robin is recreating private moments from her personal life into her film. I love how Hall engages with her character’s inner dilemma; can someone evolve right into a challenging artist?
4) Amanda Kathleen Ward!
Amanda Kathleen Ward is incredibly engaging to watch as Cody because of her chemistry with Karli Hall. Just through Ward’s facial expressions, you can see the recreation of intimate moments is getting on Cody’s nerves. Interestingly, someone else is getting inner closure but there is no resolution for Cody (Ward).
3) The Killers!
There’s something off-putting and creepy how The Woman (Alex Rinehart) and The Man (Matthew Peschio) move in front of the camera. Notice how they contort their necks, with their masks on, while looking at the camera. MacLeod Andrews’ voice as the Man works being charming and threatening at the same time.
2) The Director!
The opening kill scene of They’re Inside is enough to get viewers hooked. Writer/director/co-editor John-Paul Panelli has figured out how to twist the found footage format. What should be confining in camerawork, Matthew Plaxco is able to explore ambiance, extend setting, and build suspense.
1) A Haunting Ending!
A haunting thriller, They’re Inside pushes the boundaries of the found footage medium with electrifying performances. The tense horror movie holds your attention right till its riveting finale.
They’re Inside arrives on VOD and Blu-Ray July 16th 2019.
