ABC brings audiences to their world of magic in the crime drama, Deception, starring Jack Cutmore-Scott and Ilfenesh Hadera, with Episode 4: Divination. Get ready to fight crime and learn a few magic tricks alongside magician Cameron Black (Scott) and FBI agent Kay Daniels (Hadera).
In need of help, an eyewitness is on the run. With an assassin chasing after her, Cameron takes the eyewitness to The Archive. Unfortunately, Daniels is blocked out of her access during the case. Dina (Lenora Crichlow) gets a reading from the eyewitness, who also happens o be a fortune teller. Jordan (Justin Chon) notices Gunter (Vinnie Jones) is reluctant to be around her.
Vivian (Christine Ko) gets a bad vibe from Cameron’s brother. At the prison, Jonathan is forced to help out another inmate escape. Dealing with restrictions, Daniels finds herself dealing with another lie. Vivian reveals she was manipulated into dealing with an illegal arms dealer.
With the fortune teller’s notes stolen, Cameron and Daniels find themselves being shot at by the disguised assassin. They end up crossing paths with an counterintelligence agent, Greene (Frank Harts),who’s also Daniel’s informant.
Beaten by the prisoners, Jonathan finds himself forced into the prison’s hospital. Jonathan locks the guard in the bathroom and lets the other inmate escape. Cameron needs Greene to be part of the trick that he’s planning.
Pretending to be the assassin, Cameron makes contact with his target, Miller. What Cameron and Kay don’t know, Miller is planning to kill the assassin after Vivian is brought to him. With the masquerade going as planned, Gunter pretends to be Miller’s limousine driver.
Gunter manipulates the traffic signs to bring luck to Miller. Jordan brings Miller to Dinah, who dresses in red. Everything points to good fortune, but Miller wants a specific room designed to his tastes.
Cameron and Vivian enter the suite to meet with Miller. After Black makes his sneaky switch, Miller holds off on shooting him, thanks to Vivian’s pleas. With Cameron knocked out, Miller gets his reading and decides to leave. While Cameron pretends to be unconscious, Miller reveals where he’s going with Vivian.
As Miller takes Vivian into the elevator, Daniels takes down his armed guards. Mike Alvarez (Amaury Nolasco) shows up to stall and signals Dinah, telling her everything is going to be okay. As the FBI swarm in, Miller holds Vivian hostage; he accidentally ends up shooting her in the stomach.
With Miller in custody, the charade is over; Vivian is actually alive. Jonathan is congratulated for a job well done. At the wrap party, Vivian gets a chance to say goodbye before taking on her new identity.
Seeing his brother lose focus in prison, Cameron is worried he cannot change his brother’s destiny in prison.
Deception continues Sundays at 10pm on ABC.
