With so much action and cliff-hanging events since the season premiere, NBC continues Blindspot Season 3 with Episode 3: Upside Down Craft. Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) are back together solving the cases behind the mystery tattoos.
Tasha (Audrey Esparza), Edgar Reade (Rob Brown), and Patterson (Ashley Johnson) are all on stakeout while Jane and Kurt pursue a crooked Wall Street executive. After Patterson hacks into the executive’s computer and gathers the necessary evidence, Jane and Kurt make their arrest. Unfortunately, FBI Director Eleanor Hirst (Mary Stuart Masterson) reveals the tycoon has lawyered up.
The senator was framed for a crime he didn’t commit, with the alleged emails as a fake. The Three Blind Mice hacked into his computer and planted those emails. Unfortunately, Patterson and Richdotcom (Ennis Esmer) cannot reveal the truth unless incriminating themselves.
Patterson and Rich were part of the hacker group known as Three Blind Mice, but split towards the end. While the hacker duo try to dodge their teammates, the others have tracked down the third member, Kathy (Heather Burns).
During her interrogation, Kathy reveals the executive is planning something criminal and he has to be stopped. With this new lead, Patterson discovers the senator is indeed planning to destroy his own factory. After deactivating the bomb, Jane saves Kurt’s life and shoots down one of the tycoon’s henchmen.
Just when everyone thought they could relax, Kathy kidnaps Patterson and Rich. She recognized them as the other members of the Three Blind Mice. Kathy has been filed with grief and vengeance, caused at the hands of the Wall Street executive. She wants him dead and forces Patterson and Rich to help her.
Tasha is the first to realize Patterson is in danger. Just when the calvary arrives, Kathy hacks into their car and steers them into a crash. Rich electrocutes himself, in order to buy Patterson some extra time. The team finally arrives, rescues them, and arrest Kathy.
Back at the FBI office, Reade has figured out why Patterson and Rich were kidnapped. He puts together the clues, leading up to their previous involvement with Kathy. But he will not pursue the case, because there’s no evidence. Reade also mentions Roman wants them to pursue these tattoos, which are meant to lead them to darker secrets.
Zapata and Reade were also tracking down evidence behind Stuart (Jordan Johnson-Hinds)’s murder. They investigated a company that manufactures a device called Kinga that Stuart had in his apartment. Patterson thought the device might have recorded Stuart’s murder, but the audio has been messed with on purpose.
Just before getting into the tub with Kurt, Jane’s flirtation is interrupted by a call from Roman (Luke Mitchell). He promises to make her bleed.
