Following up on the success of Titans, DC Universe continues the first season of Doom Patrol, with Episode 3: Puppet Patrol, starring Matt Bomer and Brendan Fraser. Find out how this band of superhero weirdos teamed-up against the super villain known as Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk).
When we last left them, Eric Morden (Tudyk) kidnapped The Chief (Timothy Dalton) from the school bus. Turns out the Donkey was a doorway to another dimension but the animal exploded. Much to his father’s disapproval, Cyborg (Joivan Wade) joins the ragtag team to find Dr. Niles Caulder.
In the basement, Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Fraser) and Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby) find a picture of donkey taken in Paraguay. Because Larry Trainor (Bomer) has been arguing with his radioactive spirit, Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) finds Negative Man hanging from the ceiling.
With a clue to Paraguay, Cyborg (Joivan Wade) decides to take the team on a private jet. Unfortunately, Cyborg’s father, Silas Stone (Phil Morris), refuses to chip in and cuts off his funding. Looks like everybody is taking the school bus to Paraguay.
While on the way, Larry continues to argue with his negative spirit. After the negative spirit crashes the bus, they all have to stay at a cheap motel. Because Elasti-Girl cannot control her leg sagging, Crazy Jane abruptly teleports Negative Man and Robotman to Paraguay.
In Paraguay, Crazy Jane and the others end up visiting Strumbanhfuhrer Von Fuchs’ Puppet Show. During the puppet show, they discover what happened after Mr. Nobody was created. The Chief shot Strumbanhfuhrer Von Fuchs and stole his research.
The group separates and Larry finds himself inside the inter-dimensional chamber. He remembers waking up after the plane crash and finding a room full of dead doctors. Because of his negative spirit, Larry had to be locked up, away from civilization.
Larry remembers cheating on his wife with another lover. The negative spirit reminds Larry that he’s the one who screwed up. After his wife left him, Larry forced his love to abandon him as well.
As Elasti-Girl and Cyborg argue, Crazy Jane ends up meeting Strumbanhfuhrer Von Fuchs, who is undead but still very much alive. She offends him by saying Niles’ name. Crazy Jane then starts fighting with Fuchs’ Nazi soldiers and killing them with her flying words.
Robotman also finds himself in a bloody battle against Fuchs’ Nazi soldiers. After seeing their blood on his hands, Robotman realizes he really is a monster. That’s why he doesn’t want to contact his daughter.
After Crazy Jane delivers the death blow to Fuchs, Robotman releases Negative Man from the chamber. Crazy Jane then decides to blow up the lab with her firepowers.
The team feels defeated on the plane ride back, never realizing they accidentally created Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man.
Doom Patrol continues Fridays on DC Universe.
