Keanu Reeves returns as the retired super-assassin in John Wick: Chapter 2, now out on DVD and Blu-Ray thanks to Lionsgate. Enjoy the intense and straightforward action as the reformed killing machine is back on the hunt.
John Wick (Reeves) is about to resume a quiet civilian life when Italian gangster Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) shows up at his doorstep. Because of D’Antonio’s gold marker, Wick reluctantly accepts the assignment and travels to Rome. Not everything is what it seems as Wick pans to execute D’Antonio’s sister, who happens to be the ruthless capo of the Italian Camorra crime syndicate.
5. The Action!
Much like the first flick, John Wick 2 delivers the action in long takes and avoids extreme close-ups. In one of the standout sequences, John Wick and rival Cassian (Common) have a suspenseful quick-draw. During their next standoff, the two aim their silencers at each other, while trying not to shoot the innocent civilians.
4. Peter Stromare
As Abram, the Prison Break actor gives a quick recap to the audience in the action-packed opening minutes. Viewers are not only brought in on the timeline, but it’s also like the writers are telling you they’re not repeating themselves. His monologue even pokes fun at the first movie as Abram mentions John Wick killed someone with a pencil, asking, “Who does that?”
3. Ruby Rose
The Orange is the New Black actress brings in the sexiness and craziness as the mute assassin, Ares. Rose gives such a fierce and piercing luck when she enters a room wearing her stylish black suit. She steals the scene by taunting John Wick in sign language, “Be seeing you.”
2. The Matrix Reunion
Laurence Fishburne makes a cameo appearance as Bowery King, the mobster in charge of the homeless underworld. Don’t expect a nostalgic scene between The Matrix stars though. Nope, Bowery King and John Wick are adversaries attempting to stay one step ahead of each other.
