CBS All Access has released the first look trailer of Star Trek: Discovery. Based on the iconic Star Trek franchise, First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), Captain of the U.S.S. Shenzhou, find themselves in the midst of an intergalactic crisis between warring alien forces.
According to TV Line, CBS unveiled the promo during the network’s upfront presentation. What we know plot-wise is that the series will be told from the perspective of First Officer Michael Burnham (Martin-Green). Burnham appears to be butting heads with her superior, Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh). Even though the timeline takes place a decade before Captain Kirk’s five-year mission, it wouldn’t be Star Trek if the Klingons didn’t show up!

4. Who’s In This Cast?
The ensemble cast includes Captain Lorca (Jason Isaacs), Spock’s father Sarek (James Frain), Dr. Nambue (Maulik Pancholy) and Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson). You would think a cast this size, CBS would skimp out on the special effects. Nope, All Access is going all out with the prosthetics and CGI too. Even though Bryan Fuller had his showrunner hands full with American Gods, this adaptation stands out on its own.
3. It’s A Mini-Series!
Star Trek: Discovery has an expanded series order. The order jumps from13 to 15 episodes for its first season. CBS All Access has also announced there will be after-show, entitled Talking Trek. With the title tongue-in-cheek to Talking Dead, is it going too far to speculate the host will be Chris Hardwick?
