The Duffer Brothers’ fantastical blend of horror, action, and sci-fi, Stranger Things, makes its highly anticipated Season 2 return on Netflix. A nostalgic time period piece of the ‘80s, the original Netflix drama has 9 new episodes for viewers to binge-watch before the monsters come out for Halloween.
A year has passed since the first season events of Stranger Things. Terrifying supernatural forces once again beginning to have an affect on Hawkins. The townspeople of Hawkins are about to realize that Will’s disappearance was just the beginning. The adventure continues with the unexpected return of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder)’s fight to save her son’s soul.
Here are 5 reasons to watch Stranger Things Season 2:
5) A Bigger & Badder Monster!
After his friends and family rescued him from the Upside Down, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) came back differently. In the first season finale, Will threw up a slug into the bathroom sink. Is the invading Lovecraftian monster seen in the trailers part of him now?
4) Justice for Barb!
If you notice, each episode in the first season represents a day. With the search for Will at the forefront, Barbara Holland (Shannon Purser) become one of the Demogorgon’s victims. How much do you want to bet Chief Hopper (David Harbour) has to deal with cover-up of her death in the government conspiracy?
3) The Kids Grow Up!
Finn Wolfhard demonstrated his foul-mouthed comedic skills in the box office horror hit, IT. Now we will see Wolfhard take on Mike’s role again as a leading protagonist. A breakout star herself, Natalia Dyer takes on the Monster again as the shotgun-wielding Nancy.
2) Winona Ryder!
I love Winona Ryder in Heathers, Beetlejuice, and Girl, Interrupted. In the first season, Ryder gave such a raw and heartbreaking performance in a pivotal scene. She was talking to a ball of Christmas lights! Think about it! That’s how good she is! I also want to give another shout-out to Cara Buno, another badass mom on the show, who starred in Mad Men!
1) The ‘80s Music!
Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein are back composing the nostalgic synths and retro resistors. It’s one of the best and memorable soundtracks after Luke Cage in my opinion.
Stranger Things Season 2 premieres on Netflix October 27th, 2017.
