The creator of Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter, tackles injustice and revenge with a tough-talking group of anti-heroines in Sisters of Sorrow #4 (BOOM! Studios). With phenomenal artwork by its side, the fourth installment serves as the concluding chapter to a gritty and unforgettable series.

As we previously mentioned, Dominique, Greta, Misha, and Sarah run a nonprofit women’s shelter by day. At night though, they each don a nun’s habit and stealthily move through Los Angeles hunting down violent abusers. Their public vigilantism has earned them the nickname. Sisters of Sorrow, from the crime-ridden streets. These vigilante crime-fighters soon draw the ire of L.A.’s notorious anti-crime task force.

Here are 5 reasons why you should pick up Sisters of Sorrow #4:

5) Kurt Sutter Puts His Stamp Everywhere!

If you loved Sons of Anarchy, The Bastard Executioner, and Southpaw, then Sisters of Sorrow has everything you love about Sutter’s previous works. In the fourth installment, the Sisters’ war with the LAPD has reached its breaking point. With an arrest in demand, Dominique and the head of the task force are forced to meet face-to-face.

4) Compelling Storytelling!

Sutter and co-writer Courtney Alameda (Pitch Dark) have so much to say about the political turmoil in our society. Making every page count, each character gets a chance to get their voice heard. Readers will notice the changes among the relationships between Dominique, Greta, Sarah, and Misha as the storyline wraps up.

3) The Nail-Biting Action!

Artist Hyeonjin Kim wonderfully builds the suspense and tension around a politically relevant protest. Through wide shots, Kim knows how to capture the social commentary in wide shots and crooked angles. The illustrations narrows the wide scope to a thought-provoking close-up.

2) The Colors!

Colorist Jean-Paul Csuka grounds the exteriors with bright tones, creating a western vibe. The story takes place in a 24 hour period, climaxing from sundown to sunrise. Notice how the hints of blue are used to make the Sisters stand out during the march.

1) A Fantastic Conclusion!

Sisters of Sorrow #4 delivers a satisfying conclusion for loyal readers! I do fee like there are more stories to tell with his tight-knit squad of the anti-heroines. Since its first issue, Sisters of Sorrow has featured the most interesting female characters you will ever read!
