After a critically acclaimed first season, USA Network continues The Sinner with Season 2, Episode 7: Part 7, starring Bill Pullman and Carrie Coon. Detective Harry Ambrose (Pullman) returns to his home town to solve another whydunit mystery.
Because Julian (Elisha Henig) is missing, the police have to raid in on Moonwood. Vera (Carrie Coon) is a suspect and ends up getting arrested after fight back against the cops. Harry finds a couple of clues, like sunflower seeds and a vehicle description, that could lead to Julain’s whereabouts.
In the Interrogation Room, Vera already knows who the car belongs to. She tells Harry that saving Julian won’t save him. After the Sheriff hesitates with an amber alert, Heather Novack (Natalie Paul) gets right on the call.
At the nunnery, Heather and Harry discover Marin was there after tried to sober up. Someone else, claiming to be Marin’s father, is also looking for her. The investigators end up finding the Marin’s car out in the middle of the road.
In the flashbacks, Marin (Hannah Gross) did try to go back to Moonwood after rehab. Vera wouldn’t let Marin see her own son and kicked her out of the community. Vera kicked her out again after Marin tried to steal Julian during the middle of the night.
In the bus, Marin reveals to Julian that she failed him as a mother. Two Moonwood members felt sorry for her and kidnapped Julian to bring him to her. Julian has a panic attack after realizing he killed two people trying to do a good thing.
Out in the rain, Marin calls Heather, asking her to stall. Heather says she’s sorry; it’s not her fault. After tracing her call, Harry and Heather realize where she’s going next.
Arriving at the hotel, Marin and Julian are both hungry. Marin makes a call after putting her gun down. Julian doesn’t realize someone else is in the room with them.
After following the police sirens, Heather finds Marin dead on the floor.
Season 2 of The Sinner continues Wednesdays at 10pm on USA Network.
