The final episode is here, which may possibly be the series finale, Fox concludes The X-Files: Season 11 with Episode 10: My Struggle IV. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return for the last time as the iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
Scully has a new vision foreshadowing the return of William (Miles Robbins) and the death of Mulder. With his son in danger, Mulder races off to find him before The Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) and The Syndicate does.
Alvin Kersh (James Pickens Jr.) orders The X-Files program to be closed after discovering Scully’s leaks to the press. With no one else to turn to, Scully confides in Skinner (Mith Pileggi) to help her find William. At a gas station, Mulder and William end up going to the same destination.
At the runway, Mulder stumbles unto the hidden alien spaceship. This is the arc that’s supposed to save the rich and wealthy from the alien apocalypse. Mulder is caught by the tactical team and taken to the leader of The Syndicate.
Getting his hand on a gun, Mulder shoots and kills the leader of The Syndicate. Elsewhere, the tactical team catches William snooping around and chases after him. Showing off his parkour skills, William dodges them and ends up being picked by a good samaritan.
While interrogating William’s friends, Mulder ends up at the motel where his son is hiding. The two have an awkward embrace when a group of assassins storm in. Though Mulder is kicked down, William uses his powers to blow up to bloody smithereens.
With time running out, Skinner reveals everything he knows to Scully. William is not really her son; he was grown in a lab experiment conducted by the Cigarette Smoking Man. Following the clues, Reyes appears a to step behind Mulder, taking CSM along with her.
While Ted O’Malley (Joel McHale) reveals the alien conspiracy on his show, Scully and Skinner follow after Mulder’s speeding car. The Cigarette Smoking Man follows after the tracker on Mulder’s car. They all end up at the same place; an abandoned warehouse.
In their standoff, Skinner starts shooting as Reyes speeds up the car. There will be no redemption for Reyes as she’s shot in the dead. Skinner lies in the wreckage from the car crash as Cigarette Smoking Man steals his gun.
Inside the abandoned warehouse, William, disguised as Mulder, begs Scully to forget about him. She knows he was engineered in a lab; she’s not his true mother. Mulder chases after him after he breaks away from Scully.
During the chase, William shape-shifts into Mulder and sacrifices himself as Cigarette Smoking Man shoots him. In shock, the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) realizes he shot the wrong person. Mulder guns him down and tosses him over the bridge.
Thinking he’s failed as a father, Mulder is just about ready to give up until Scully breaks the news; she’s pregnant. She is an X-File because her pregnancy is a miracle.
While Mulder and Scully hold each other tightly, William rises from the waters alive and well.
With two episodes left, Season 11 of The X-Files continues Wednesdays at 8pm on Fox.
