Buffy Vampire Slayer #4, BOOM! Studios

A pulse-pounding installment, Buffy The Vampire Slayer #4 (BOOM! Studios) drives the nail-biting suspense through witty comedy and teen drama. Based on Joss Whedon’s groundbreaking series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, the pop culture phenomenon closes its first story arc with a brilliantly charming and stylish reboot.

Someone from the Scooby gang must make the ultimate sacrifice.

Here are 5 reasons why we love Buffy The Vampire Slayer #4:

5) What Happened Before!

Woking at a fast food joint, Buffy is even more tired as she’s trying to get good grades at school and stick to her nightly patrol. After making new friends, Willow and Xander, Buffy’s vampire slaying keeps getting in the way. With the help of Willow and Xander, Buffy was able to defeat Drusilla and Spike.

4) The Writing!

Writer Jordie Bellaire really showcases how twisted Drusilla is in this installment. Drusilla bides her time to mentally break down her opponent before physically making a move. Through thought captions, letterer Ed Dukeshire perfectly narrates Xander’s lonely sense for friendship and unrequited love.

3) The Art!

Through nine-panel illustrations, artist Dan Mora does a fantastic job showing readers how time passes along. One of the drawings capture Buffy slicing off a vampire’s head with two swords. In three panels, notice how Cordelia continues to think about Spike even after the homecoming dance.

2) The Colors!

I love how Raul Angulo captures the character’s personality within one color. In the home life setting, notice how Buffy is wearing a purple sweater to cover up her bruises. Joyce, Buffy’s mother’s, is wearing a blue blouse. The tones hint that Joyce’s boyfriend us a doctor because he is the only one wearing white.

1) A Suspenseful Read!

The suspense of Buffy The Vampire Slayer #4 takes readers to a terrifying cliff-hanger! I can’t wait to read what happens next!
