Right before the new year, DC Universe has announced the premiere date and released new character images from the upcoming Doom Patrol. Join the band of misfits known as Doom Patrol as they attempt to work together to take a group selfie. Created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premian, Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC Comics’ strangest group of outcasts. With Titans airing its first season finale, this is the second live-action DC Universe Original Series. The Doom family will be spending the holidays at home, like they did last year, and the year before that. Here are 5 reasons we love the Doom Patrol teaser:
5) The Star-Studded Cast!
Getting their own character posters as well, the cast includes Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief.4) The Rookies!
— DC Universe (@TheDCUniverse) December 21, 2018We already met some members of the Doom Patrol when they made their highly anticipated appearance in episode 4 of Titans, which also served as a backdoor pilot. In the teaser, we meet two new members, Crazy Jane (Guerrero). Will Cyborg (Wade) say on the show his famous line, “Boo-Yah!” like his cartoon counterpart? I’m very interested in seeing Guerrero’s performance, especially if she’s playing 64 alternate personalities, who each have their own superpowers.
3) Doom Manor!
— DC Universe (@TheDCUniverse) December 21, 2018This dysfunctional family attempts to take a nice family photo together. I laughed aloud when Negative Man (Bomer) asked, “Am I smiling?” Even though his face is wrapped in bandages, like those old-school mummies, you can tell he is smiling in the snapshots.
2) Supernatural!
— DC Universe (@TheDCUniverse) December 21, 2018Best known for his work on the CW horror drama, Supernatural, showrunner Jeremy Carver will be taking over this adaptation. I wonder if Carver will be adapting the weird stories from Grant Morrison’s run or the recent surreal take from writer Gerard Way and artist Nick Derington.
1) The Titans!
— DC Universe (@TheDCUniverse) December 21, 2018On Christmas Eve, December 24th, the Titans joins DC Daily for an exclusive recap. The cast will be discussing the groundbreaking first season and tease a look ahead to their sophomore season.
Doom Patrol premieres February 15, 2019 only on DC UNIVERSE. The DC UNIVERSE is now Live on Amazon Fire TV.
