After the success of Titans, DC Universe continues the next stage of their original programming with the upcoming Doom Patrol, starring Brendan Fraser and April Bowlby. Find out why we’re excited to see see this eccentric and weird superhero team in live-action.
Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks, who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, these reluctant heroes are in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore. Their lives will never, ever be the same.
Here are 5 reasons we’re excited to see Doom Patrol:
5) The Star-Studded Cast!
I am huge fan of White Collar and the Mummy movies! The cast includes Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief.
4) Supernatural!
Best known for his work on the CW horror drama, Supernatural, showrunner Jeremy Carver will be taking over this adaptation. I am very excited to see if Carver will be adapting the weird stories from Grant Morrison’s run or the recent surreal take from writer Gerard Way and artist Nick Derington.
3) The Group Chemistry!
Doom Patrol made their highly anticipated appearance in episode 4 of Titans, which also served as a backdoor pilot. What’s great about the standalone episode is that you can see the group chemistry flowing between Fraser, Bowlby, and Bomer. I loved seeing the group together at the end, with the electronic music playing in the background.
2) Timothy Dalton!
Timothy Dalton will be introduced to audiences as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief. Bruno Bichir gave a somber performance as The Chief in Titans. I’m looking forward to seeing what Dalton will the character. Dalton may not be everybody’s favorite James Bond but his performance was most faithful to the Ian Fleming’s books.
1) The Rookies!
Diane Guerrero will be playing Crazy Jane. Joivan Wade will be seen Victor Stone aka Cyborg. I can tell already they’re going to be amazing! Cyborg’s origin story was recently told in the recent episodes of Young Justice: Outsiders.
Doom Patrol premieres February 15, 2019 only on DC UNIVERSE. The DC UNIVERSE is now Live on Amazon Fire TV.
