5) What Happened Before!

I love that Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Peter Parker are in the same universe in this reboot; so we’re not dimension-jumping. The trio share the same age, as if they’re all learning how to be heroes at the same time. As three budding journalists, they’re in competition against each other to get the scoop on a career-making news story.
4) The Writing!
I love how writer Delilah S. Dawson focuses on building the friendship between Miles and Peter. Wearing a prototype outfit, Miles has to work hard to earn his official costume. Letterer Shawn Lee subtly captures the social commentary as Peter remarks how Miles wearing a hoodie, makes him look “like a burglar” to others.
3) The Art!
And if you’re anxiously awaiting MARVEL ACTION SPIDER-MAN #2, it should be thwipping its way to you on March 13! You can order from the usual places or ask your favorite local comics shop to reserve your copy! (Cover and art by @FicoOssio, colors by @rleep, letters by @robutoid.) pic.twitter.com/m1HUcaPkhQ

Artist Fico Ossio captures a vibrant suburbia in the backgrounds. Ossio illustrates the benches and gardens behind Forest Park while Miles and Peter discuss homework. Notice how Miles’ costume resembles closely to a would-be ninja. Ossio pays homage to the previous origin stories; how a teenager, with no sewing skills, would put random items together to build a costume.
2) The Colors!
The red tone of Spider-Man’s costume bounces off the page thanks to colorist Ronda Pattison. Notice how the red gloves Miles is wearing really strikes out from the rest of his black hoodie. During nighttime, all the tall buildings drown out in gray tones.
1) A Fun Read!
A fun installment, Marvel Action: Spider-Man #2 captures the friendly neighborhood superheroes dividing their time between friendship and responsibility. This series will make a Spidey fan out of anyone!
