Uncork’d Entertainment delivers a undeniably gripping character study with Revenge (Hevn), starring Siren Jørgensen and Frode Winther. Director Kjersti Steinsbø’ s suspenseful revenge thriller captures a leading performance that slowly escalates to an exclamation point.
Traveling under a false identity, Rebekka sets out on a mission to confront Morten Holand whom she shares a dark secret surrounding the death of her sister. As her plan falls apart, Rebekka is forced to face the devastating consequences of her actions and must decide how far she is willing to go to seek revenge.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see Revenge (Hevn):
5) Siren Jørgensen!
Captivating right from the start, actress Siren Jørgense is simply amazing to watch. Rebekka manages to infiltrate her targets, but she is such an amateur when it comes to revenge. In her portrayal of Rebekka, Jørgensen has to be smart and manipulative, and yet has to to improvise when her plans starts to crack!
4) The Setting!
The amazing photography captures the gorgeous backdrop of Western Norway. This is how you make a setting feel like a character in itself! The stunning landscapes wonderfully contrasts against Rebecca’s dark motivations, as if they’re clashing against each other.
3) Kjersti G Steinsbø!
Hevn happens to be director/co-writer Kjersti G Steinsbø’s feature film debut! On the themes of punishment and vengeance, Steinsbø does a great job providing the topics through such natural dialogue. Without giving up answers, the audiences gets a chance to reflect, along with Rebekka, and draw their own conclusions.
2) The Book!
The film is based on The Doll In The Ceiling by Norwegian writer Ingvar Ambjørnsen. Are you a book to film critic like I am? I love spotting and analyzing the differences between the original source material and the film.
1) A Gripping Thriller!
An impressive directorial debut, Hevn (Revenge) is a gripping and thought-provoking drama like no other! The final minutes of the suspenseful thriller is brilliantly intense, leading to an inescapable confrontation between the protagonist and antagonist.
Revenge will opening theatrically Friday, August 17th, in L.A and other cities. The limited theatrical run will then continue for 1-2 weeks.
