As the Hellmouth crossover event continues, Angel #7 (BOOM! Studios) features an unexpected team-up and surprising guest returns. A clever spinoff of Buffy The Vampire Slayer starring David Boreanaz, Joss Whedon’s vampire without a soul fights the Hellmouth, while his team deals with the upcoming apocalypse.
Angel’s in Sunnydale, so it’s up to TEAM SPIKE to save Los Angeles from a horde of demons! But can Fred and Gunn find a way to work with Spike to save their city… or does Spike have a secret agenda?
Here are 5 reasons why you should read Angel #7:
5) What Happened Before!
After discovering a much greater evil is on the horizon, Angel realizes he will need every resource and ally he can find. Though part of her mind has been left in shambles, Fred realizes she will play a vital role in the upcoming apocalypse. To save the world, the vampire hunter Charles Gunn will need to work with Spike.
4) The Writing!
Once #HELLMOUTH concludes, RING OF FIRE begins, starting with ANGEL & SPIKE. @SYFY has the exclusive details and a first look at the covers for ANGEL & SPIKE #9: https://t.co/EOYhWimmTk pic.twitter.com/zviARsFxsx

Writer Bryan Edward Hill does a great job creating the dynamic chemistry between Gunn and Spike. As the two mouth off against each other, Gunn and Spike reluctantly work together to rescue Fred from her kidnappers. The lettering by Ed Dukeshire highlights the suspenseful seduction of Fred’s fragile self-esteem, which leads up to the big reveal.
3) The Artwork!
I really want to focus Lorne’s character design and personality because I loved Andy Hallet’s performance so much. Artist Gleb Melnikov captures Lorne’s charm and playfulness as he takes center stage. In closeups, Lorne’s devilish grin demonstrates how he loves to torture the duo’s stage-fright and poke fun at their animosity towards each other.
2) The Colors!
Colorist Roman Titov captures Lorne’s nightclub setting in moody blue tones. Lorne’s white suite looks quite striking and flashy throughout the pages. Notice how Fred is captured in a bright white setting, with the sunrise in the background.
1) A Fun Read!
Readers will definitely love this exciting team-up between Gunn and Spike in Angel #7. I am so hyped up for the return of a major villain after that shocking last page!.
Angel #7 arrives in stores on November 27th, 2019.
