The Plot #3, Vault

From Vault Comics’ Nightfall line, The Plot #3 continues as an unnervingly ghost story about the pains of adulthood and family. A creative twist on the haunted house genre, The Plot explores dark family secrets, addiction, and evil spirits.

A startling revelation leaves the nascent Blaine family unit shaken. Reese and Chase both experience ominous visions.

Here are 5 reasons why you should read The Plot #3:

5) What Happened Before!

Chase Blaine was never close to his estranged brother and sister-in-law. Murder brings the rest of the family together when Chase becomes the legal guardian to McKenzie and Zach. While moving into his abandoned ancestral home, Chase struggles to connect with his niece and nephew.

4) The Writing!

Upon the discovery of a dead body, writers Tim Daniel and Michael Moreci examine Chase’s struggle with sobriety as he briefly escapes from his responsibilities. A relatable character, Chase struggles being the only adult in the room. Letterer Jim Campbell spotlights the ramifications of an abusive family and its toxic environment from Magnus’ angry monologue.

3) The Artwork!

The artwork by Joshua Hixon captures so much suspense and scares during the silent panels. Hixon builds the tension through emotions in closeups and reaction shots. Reese’s hallucination stands out from being ostracized by bullies and being the new kid in school.

2) The Colors!

Colorist Jordan Boyd uses green tones to highlight the supernatural presence from reality. Notice the combination of purple and green tones when Chase stumbles upon his hallucination. The green shades are so faded and dark that they add to the decrepitness.

1) A Phenomenal Read!
