As the “Hellmouth” crossover event continues, Buffy The Vampire Slayer #12 (BOOM! Studios) presents the shocking downfall of a popular character from the supernatural franchise. Based on Joss Whedon’s groundbreaking series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, the pop culture phenomenon continues to explore new stories and dynamics.
As TEAM KENDRA fights for their town against the Hellmouth possessed hivemind, Willow and Xander begin to feel to cost of sharing a soul between them. With darkness creeping into the place a soul should be, one of them will start down a road that they can’t turn back from.
Here are 5 reasons why you should get Buffy The Vampire Slayer #12:
5) What Happened Before!
The Hellmouth has been opened thanks to the efforts of Drusilla and Spike. Warned in advance of what’s to come, Angel, the vampire without a soul, arrived in the nick of time to rescue a few of the Sunnydale High students. Just when they teamed up to fight a greater evil, Angel and Buffy were dragged into the Hellmouth.
4) The Writing!
As the group chemistry sizzles, writer Jordie Bellaire captures a frightened group, struggling to keep it together without their leader, on the run. The dialogue really sparkles with energy and levity when Anya participates in the narrative. At the emotional core, letterer Ed Dukeshire emphasizes the friendship between Xander and Willow, who are lost without Buffy.
3) The Artwork!
Artist David López captures every single personality from the group in a wide shot. Willow is too scared to build up courage as Xander tries to be strong for her. Kendra struggles to appear strong and dominant as Anya loves stealing the show.
2) The Colors!
Notice how Raul Angulo heightens the green hues for dramatic flair as the group hides in the sewers. The whiteness of Anya’s flashy suit stands out in the pages. The pages are drenched in purple tones as Willow loses control while conjuring magic.
