Surprisingly witty, Going To The Chapel #3 (Action Lab: Danger Zone) delivers an action-packed romantic tale filled with charming and dangerous characters. What was supposed to be a simple wedding quickly turns out into a heist job before becoming a tense hostage situation!
Locked in a stalemate with the police, an unexpected loss sends Emily and the Bad Elvis Gang spiraling into chaos — and unfortunately, Emily’s dysfunctional wedding party isn’t going to take this lying down. Can this bride pull off one last escape, or will her worst secrets be unveiled?!
Here are 5 reasons you should read Going To The Chapel #3:
5) What Happened Before!
The Bad Elvis Gang has stormed into the chapel by force, interrupting Emily’s wedding. Already having cold feet on her wedding day, Emily discovers she has been taken hostage by her former lover, Tom. Jesse, the groom, is madly in love with Emily and will do anything to protect her from this gang of criminals. Sheriff Reagan waits outside the chapel to bring in the notorious gang to justice.
4) The Writing!
Writer David Pepose focuses a big chunk of the narrative on my favorite part of the story; the hostage takers verses the hostages. Pepose’s witty sense of humor comes across very well when both sides make their own drastic decisions to control the situation. Letterer Ariana Maher does a great job emphasizing how Jesse’s love, which may be considered foolish, for Emily is genuinely real.
3) The Artwork!
This comic is SO MUCH FUCKING FUN. A down-and-dirty heist-gone-spectacularly wrong mess of a masterpiece. GOING TO THE CHAPEL #3 is out today. Hey @StephenKing — you would LOVE this one. Pure Peckinpah/cocaine madness. https://t.co/EcFvHmW0ko

As always, artist Gavin Guidry does a fantastic job mixing up the scenes with action, romance, and the comedy. The Bad Elvis Gang may be tough guys but they are no way as deadly and dangerous as a shotgun-packing grandma. The climatic last pages captures the emotional impact of a heartbreaking decision.
2) The Colors!
Notice how colorist Liz Kramer wonderfully reflects the pink lighting off of Emily’s white wedding dress. The only other time the pink tones break away from the backgrounds is when the law becomes part of the narrative. Sheriff Reagan and his team are waiting outside in the desert landscape to make their move.
