Amazon Prime Video has unleashed the unleashed the uncensored teaser trailer, “Spank,” for the upcoming The Boys, starring Karl Urban and Elisabeth Shue. Based on the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book, executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are taking on superhero stardom with special band of anti-heroes.
What happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, become influential as politicians and as revered as Gods? How do you stop them when they abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good?
Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited for The Boys:
5) Uncensored It Is!
Yep a woman crushing a dude’s head while she’s being given head. And yes, that’s a baby shooting a guy’s head off with its laser eyes. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming eight-episode of The Boys.
4) Karl Urban!
Karl Urban (Dredd) will be seen as Billy Butcher, the leader of “The Boy.” The so-called Boys are a group of CIA operatives-turned-vigilantes who work to hold superheroes accountable to their actions.
3) The Seven!
The footage also teased The Seven, who are supposed to be the corrupt group of superheroes. Jack Quaid shows up in the teaser as Hughie, who wants to know how you can “spank” someone. Hughie’s Dad will be played by Simon Pegg, who’s also in the comic book.
2) Supernatural!
Showrunner Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, tells Entertainment Weekly, “I want it to be graphic when it needs to be, because that’s what’s best for the story, but I want to tell this character story about these regular, blue-collar humans taking on these entitled, super-powered, one-percenter gods and the relationships amongst them.”
1) Sex & Violence!
Say what you will about their adaptation of Preacher, but Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are pretty consistent when it comes to dark and comedically over-the-top level of sex and violence.
The Boys premieres on Amazon Prime July 26th, 2019.
