An incredibly gripping read, Bone Parish #9 (BOOM! Studios) becomes increasingly engaging as a brutal crime drama and supernatural thriller. This is one of the best titles to have come out of 2018, and Bone Parish succeeds thanks to its ensemble of compelling characters.
The walls continue to close in on the Winters family, as they are assaulted by foes on all sides.
Here are 5 reasons why you should get Bone Parish #9:
5) What Happened Before!

Since the first issue, the new drug that everybody is talking about is made from the ashes of humans! The ashes take the addicted users to new heights. Now imagine someone experimenting on this kind of drug and taking its adverse effects to another level.
4) The Writing!
Writer Cullen Bunn delivers great dialogue with his headstrong character, Detective Herron. Having lost her son, Herron doesn’t want junkies to be sniffing the ashes of her child. Letterer Ed Dukeshire captures the vibrant personalities of various characters as the story arc jumps into different subplots.
3) The Artwork!
Artist Jonas Scharf does a fantastic job capturing the anger and grief within Detective Herron. Notice how the scene starts with the detective yelling and culminates with a grieving mother. I really like how Scharf illustrates Leticia, who teases and seduces with her flirtatious looks.
2) The Colors!
Colorist Alex Gumaraes ramps up the grotesque horror with vivid tones. These climatic pages are so jaw-dropping because the background is draped in green. Readers can easily spot Dee throughout the story because of her purple hair color.
1) Horror & Crime!
Always delivering solid installments, Bone Parish #9 brings out the best in horror and crime! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
