Uncork’d Entertainment delivers the twisted Brazilian erotic thriller, The Cannibal Club, starring Tavinho Teixeira and Ana Luiza Rios. Writer/director Guto Parente cleverly manages to put together a blood-soaked movie that’s thrilling and romantic at the same time.
Otavio (Tavinho Teixeira) and Gilda (Ana Luiza Rios) are a very wealthy couple of the Brazilian elite who have the habit of eating their employees. Otavio owns a private security company and is a notable member of The Cannibal Club. When Gilda accidentally discovers a secret from Borges, a powerful congressman and the Club’s leader, her and her husband’s lives are in grave danger.

Played with gleeful deviousness, actress Ana Luiza Rios dominates every scene as the manipulative and tantalizing Gilda. In the narrative, Gilda knows how to handle herself when it comes to trickery. As Gilda, Rios revels as a femme fatale and shares instant chemistry with her co-star.
4) Tavinho Teixeira!
As the other half of the carnivorous couple, Tavinho Teixeira delivers a highly engaging performance as the antagonistic Otavio. In the film, Teixeira douses Otavio with sophistication and pretentiousness.

With two phenomenal leads, Otavio and Gilda help make each other who and what they are. The film shockingly opens with the both of them in a sweaty and graphic sex scene. Then Lucas Barbi’s cinematography is suddenly drenched in blood.

Interestingly, the erotic thriller serves as Guto Parente’s one big metaphor for marriage. This is a power play between husband and wife as both sides attempt to dominate their role. The film’s message definitely explores partner versus partner; what happens when two people are bound together forever.
