Uncork’d Entertainment delivers a hilariously bloody horror/comedy, The Night Sitter, starring Elyse Dufour and Jack Champion. Writer/directors Abiel Bruhn and John Rocco know how to make an enjoyable comedy of scares that is definitely worth seeing.
A scheming con artist that poses as innocent babysitter to steal from a wealthy occult enthusiast. Just as the thief arrives to clean out the house, the home owner’s reclusive son stumbles upon one of his father’s artifacts and unwittingly summons a trio of witches known as The Three Mothers.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see The Night Sitter:
5) Elyse DuFour
Perfectly embodying the anti-heroine, Elyse DuFour is incredibly engaging to watch as con artist, Amber. The comedic timing works with DuFour because of her facial expressions and reactions. As “the straight man,” the humor works because Amber (DuFour) stays grounded while being surrounded by eccentric characters.
4) Jack Champion!
Jack Champion has an amazing scene with Elyse DuFour as his character, Kevin, confronts Amber. Amber (Dufour) has a heat-to-heart talk with Kevin (Champion) about what her real intentions are. Notice how he looks at her like an adult and how she talks to him as an equal.
3) The Horror!
When the three witches start picking people, that’s when the horror and gore goes full throttle. Special shoutout goes to Amber Neukum, especially when Lindsey ends up being possessed. This is when all the blood and make-up effects are taken up another notch.
2) The Directors!
Writer/directors Abiel Bruhn and John Rocco do a fantastic job of mixing the right amount of gore and black humor. Their movie has such a nostalgic feel towards ‘80s horror, without referencing their influences by name. The cinematography by Scotty G. Field has such a vivid palette, especially when using primary colors in the shot.
1) A Fun HorrorComedy!
An enjoyable horror/comedy to watch, The Night Sitter is genuinely funny and bloody at the same time. As a fantastic lead, audiences will be unable to take they eyes off of Elyse DuFour!
The Night Sitter will be available August 6th, 2019 on DVD and VOD.
