1844 Entertainment presents the pulse-pounding international supernatural thriller, Midday Demons, starring Fiona Glascott and Pietro Ragusa. Writer/director Rossella De Venuto captures mystery and intrigue in a chilling puzzler.
Megan, a successful Irish artist living in Dublin with her husband, an Italian architect. After receiving news that her husband’s uncle has died, the couple travels to Apulia, in southern Italy, to handle Leo’s unexpected inheritance: the family’s ancient palace. Left alone at home during the hottest hours of the summer afternoon, Megan is disturbed by mysterious presences. While trying to understand what’s happening, Megan begins to find clues scattered throughout the palace, unraveling an unsolved mystery linked to her husband’s family.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see Midday Demons:
5) Fiona Glascott!
In a gripping performance, Fiona Glascott is undeniably captivating as the investigative and isolated Megan. Glascott depicts the intensity of a troubled protagonist descending straight into madness. Because Megan (Glasott) is far from home, there is no one she can confide with and the surroundings are unrecognizable to her.
4) Pietro Ragusa!
Pietro Ragusa does a fantastic job making viewers question whether or not his character, Leo, is trustworthy. Aiding the mystery, Ragusa’s performance jumps between being a misdirection or a red herring.
3) The Setting!
The camerawork by Ciarán Tanham is quite amazing when spotlighting the luscious exteriors. The mesmerizing backgrounds are part of the visual spectacle. During the third act, Tanham’s cinematography focuses on creating a claustrophobic ambiance within the spooky caves.
2) The Direction!
The religious imagery is the most striking part about Rossella De Venuto’s visual flair. As someone raised Catholic, I thought the religious symbolism was geared more for suspense and building the shadowy conspiracy. Venuto’s conspiracy angle is a neat twist to the supernatural genre.
