Universal Pictures Home Entertainment delivers the bloody goods with their popular slasher/horror flick, Cult of Chucky, starring Fiona Dourif and Jennifer Tilly, onto DVD and Blu-Ray. The evil “Good Guy” doll, inhabited by serial killer Charles Lee Ray, returns for his blood-splattered seventh installment.

As we previously mentioned, this sequel takes place after the events of Curse of Chucky. Nica (Fiona Dourif) has been confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, No one believes Nica (Dourif) when she tells the truth, Chucky murdered her entire family. When her psychiatrist introduces a new group-therapy too— a “Good Guy” doll —a string of grisly deaths plague the asylum. Nica begins to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all.

Check out our 5 reasons to get Cult of Chucky on DVD and Blu-Ray:

5) Andy’s Back!

In the open-ending of Curse of Chucky,  Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) has trained himself to ready for the return of nemesis. Finally showing up at his home, Chucky though was caught by surprise when Andy pointed a shotgun at his face. Will Andy become the hero rescue Nica in time from Chucky’s terror?

4) The Death of Andy?

Hear my theory out okay?!? Did writer/director Don Mancini bring back Andy just to kill him off? If you follow horror movies, you know the protagonist always dies in the sequels. Doctor Loomis (Donald Pleasence) fought to a fiery death against Michael Myers in Halloween II. Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) met her own demise against Fred Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

3) Nica’s Back Too!

A charismatic young starlet, Fiona Dourif has an appealing charm when she shows up on camera. Definitely a performance you need to see, the Manhattan actress was just mesmerizing in her tragic role as Jean Tatlock.

2) That Voice!

Brad Dourif returns as the voice of Chucky and everything is right with the world. The Lord of the Rings actor showed up as himself in the flashbacks during Curse of Chucky. I love how writer/director Don Mancini developed Chucky’s arc, from serial killer to family man, over seven sequels.

1) Jennifer Tilly!

Jennifer Tilly rejuvenated the horror franchise when she showed up in Bride of Chucky. Tilly manages to bring a lot heart and black humor as the psychotic Tiffany.  I’ll says this a million times over; Jennifer Tilly is a true delight to watch!

Cult of Chucky arrives on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD October 3rd.
