Black String, Frankie Muniz

Grindstone Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, delivers the maddening supernatural thriller, The Black String, starring Frankie Muniz and Chelsea Edmundson. Director/Co-writer Brian Hanson has crafted an effective mind-bender that builds on the dramatic tension.

Jonathan (Muniz) is a lonely twenty-something, stuck in his home town working night shifts at the local convenience store. When an unexpected encounter with a mysterious woman (Chelsea Edmundson) turns his life upside down, Jonathan is stricken by illness and nightmarish visions. Paranoid and desperate, he launches on a quest across the suburbs to find the seductress who started it all. Friends and family believe he’s losing his mind, but Jonathan is convinced he’s the target of something far more sinister.

Here are 5 reasons why you should see The Black String:

5) Frankie Muniz!

The Black String

Giving everything the role demands, Frankie Muniz embodies Jonathan with so much sympathy and sadness. In the opening minutes, Jonathan (Muniz) delivers so many feelings of loneliness and despair as he works at his dead-end job. Muniz portrays a desperate character who is essentially a ticking time bomb under constant duress.

4) Chelsea Edmundson!

As the mysterious woman, Chelsea Edmundson chews up the scenery as the charming, manipulative and seductive Dena. Edmundson and Muniz share instant chemistry as two lost souls yearning to make a connection. Edmundson delivers the key performance that sets off the entire movie.

3) Blake Webb!

The Black String

Blake Webb impressively delivers two sides of his character, Eric ‘The ERC.’ As the comic relief, Eric (Webb) pokes fun at Jonathan (Muniz) before he goes on his blind date. Then when Jonathan starts showing signs of STDs, Eric puts a halt to the comedy and presents a more serious side.

2) The Direction!

Director Brian Hanson and co-writer/producer Richard Handley have created an engaging character that audiences will want join in on the thrill ride. There’s mounting dread that plays off of Muniz’s performance as his life spins out of control. As the protagonist struggles with his senses, every scene has an underlying layer of paranoia.

1) Twisted Psychological Thriller!

The Black String is a twisted psychological thriller carried by a great lead performance. The DVD will include an audio commentary, making-of featurette, deleted scenes, and alternate takes.

The Black String arrives on Digital HD and DVD September 24th, 2019.
