Vertical Entertainment presents a charmingly poignant and heartwarming drama, Cold Brook, starring William Fichtner and Kim Coates. Not only did William Fichtner make his directorial debut with this film, Cold Brook delivers a superb handling of camerawork, performances, and humor.
Ted (William Fichtner) and Hilde (Kim Coates) – best friends and maintenance workers at a college in Upstate New York – pursue an intruder at a Museum Exhibition on the college campus. They become local heroes. Learning that the intruder is lost, they finding themselves torn between helping him find his home, and taking care of their own.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see Cold Brook:
5) William Fichtner!
William Fichtner captures the underdog spirit of a troubled character struggling to do the right thing for himself and his loved ones. Ted (Fichtner) is loose and playful with his friends, but tight-lipped as he’s unable to rekindle the romance with his wife, Mary Ann (Robin Weigert). You feel the sadness from Fichtner’s pained facial expressions as Ted struggles to communicate with his Mary.
4) Kim Coates!
Kim Coates does a fantastic job nailing the witty humor and high spirited energy of Hilde’s personality. Coates and Mary Lynn Rajskub share instant chemistry as Hilde and Rachel, two lovebirds who have known each other since high school. Rajskub and Weigert add to the quirky humor as their characters poke fun at their husbands’ close relationship.
3) Harold Perrineau!
A great standout, Harold Perrineau adds so much warmth and resonance to his role as Gil Le Deux. Perrineau adds extra details to his nuanced performance through his mannerisms, wardrobe, and accent. Perrineau captures the anguish and torment of a lost soul unable to find his peace.
2) The Direction!
The beautiful cinematography Ed Lukas showcases the vibrant backgrounds and lively interiors. Audiences are absolutely going to love the easygoing chemistry between Fichtner and Coates throughout the movie. As a director, Fichtner focuses on crafting such likable characters that viewers would love to hang out with.
