LCD Soundsystem boosted the anticipation of their upcoming album when they were announced as the musical guests for Saturday Night Live. In between the hilarious skits and weekend updates, host Chris Pine (Star Trek) brought the dance/electronic rock band on stage to perform their newest track, American Dream.

As we previously mentioned, the Wonder Woman actor performed a hilarious musical skit during his opening monologue. Pine attempted to explain to the audience how he’s different than Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and every other “white guy.” In another laugh-out-loud skit, the Star Trek actor spoofed the iconic sci-fi show that brought him Hollywood fame.

5. When’s The Album Coming Out?

The newest track will appear on their upcoming comeback record for Columbia. To the fans, this is the follow-up to their 2010 album, This is Happening. Unfortunately, an official release date hasn’t been announced. But we’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

4. Cut For Airtime

According to Rolling Stone, this isn’t actually the full track. The unedited version of American Dream extends to the six-minute mark. Lead singer, James Murphy, and the rest of his band performed this shorter track for the television audience.

3. Somebody’s Very Political

Saturday Night Live is at its best when the skits are optical satire. The ratings for this season of SNL have been through the roof thanks to Alec Baldwin (30 Rock)’s portrayal of the 45th president. There was no Baldwin in this episode but keyboardist Nancy Whang took a politically charged jab at the president and Vladimir Putin with her satirical white T-shirt.

“You took acid and looked in the mirror

Watched the beard

Crawl around on your face”

1. There’s Still Another Song!

The band also performed Call the Police for the SNL audience. Make sure to check out the performance here.

LCD Soundsystem replaces Frank Ocean and take over the headlining spot at Sasquatch! Festival later this month in May.
