Continuing after its two-part mystery, ABC brings audiences to their world of magic in Deception, starring Jack Cutmore-Scott and Ilfenesh Hadera, with Episode 9: Getting Away Clean. Get ready to fight crime and learn a few magic tricks alongside magician Cameron Black (Scott) and FBI agent Kay Daniels (Hadera).
In the aftermath of The Femme Fatale (Stephanie Corneliussen)’s failed heist, Jonathan Black (Scott) has returned to prison as a rat. The magic team find themselves at odds with Jordan (Justin Chon), who lied to them. For Cameron’s involvement in the heist, Kay and her partner, Mike Alvarez (Amaury Nolasco), are being punished by their boss, Deakins (Laila Robins).
Elsewhere, a street cop (Adam Ferrara) stumbles onto a shooting at a bodega. Knocked unconscious, the street cop wakes up and finds the dead body missing. He claims there was a murder, but no one believes him, except for Cameron.
Cameron insists on helping out the street cop, even though Kay refuses to get involved. When the street cop and Cameron investigate the bodega, the manager makes a run for it with the bloody evidence. The duo discover hard proof that there was a shooting inside the bodega.
Meanwhile, Gunter (Vinnie Jones) starts his own investigation into the Femme Fatale’s plans. Hidden inside the Archive is another tunnel that leads to the Alistair death trap. Speaking from beyond the grave, Cameron’s great grandfather warns Gunter of danger before the vinyl record starts to burn.
Though Gunter screams out for help, Dina (Lenora Crichlow) and Mike end up ignoring his cries during their date. Because he needs to trust someone, Gunter shows Jordan the skull he discovered.
Deakins (Laila Robins) wants Kay involved because Cameron may have unknowingly stumbled onto something big. With the help of Jordan, Cameron follows after a drug dealer. Cameron and Jordan are about to be in danger when Dina rescues them from the drug dealer.
The investigation suddenly leads to dirty cop ring. With a search warrant, Dina and Mike end up raiding the precinct, but the drugs are found in the street cop’s desk. The street cop says he made one mistake and that mistake continues to haunt him, but he’s no drug dealer.
Still mad at Cameron, Kay reveals he hurt her; she doesn’t trust him. Cameron chose to keep things secret from her and he aligned himself with the Mystery Woman. Hoping to fix things, Cameron knows his next trick will only work if Kay is involved.
Cameron pretends gets himself arrested as Kay hands him an officer’s uniform. The dirty cop ends up following Cameron into the fake interrogation room, where he confesses to the murder. With the dirty cop apprehended, the street cop is promoted to detective.
At the wrap party, Cameron and Kay make amends, patching things up. But back in prison though, Jonathan is discovered that he’s an informant for the FBI. With a reward out for his head, Jonathan protects himself from the prison librarian after he tries to stab him.
All of sudden, the prison librarian is burned alive inside his cell and Jonathan is stuck with the blame.
Deception continues Sunday nights at 10pm on ABC.
