TNT continues Season 3 of their compelling crime drama, Animal Kingdom, starring Shawn Hatosy and Ellen Barkin, with Episode 7: Low Man. With Smurf (Barkin) behind bars, can her boys continue their living through armed robberies without her?
Nicky (Molly Gordon) is MIA after shooting herself in the leg. While Nicky’s father threatens to end their relationship, J (Finn Cole) finds himself wanting Mia (Sohvi Rodriguez) even more. He even attempts to not to pay for Smur’s protection but Mia gives him an extension.
After discovering his father is a junkie, Deran (Jake Weary), Craig (Ben Robson), and Pope (Shawn Hatosy) wonder if they can do the job without Billy (Denis Leary). Deran promises to handle his father by giving him work and get rid of Colby. Pope then heads off to Mexico after getting unexpected info from Lucy (Carolina Guerra) about Baz’s murder.
Back at the prison, Smurf finds herself without protection from avery mad-as-Hell Alvarez. Morgan tells J that he needs to visit his grandmother at the prison. J is warned that if something happens to Smurf, the backlash happens to him and the others. Deran though thinks the only person that Smurf would betray is Baz but he’s dead.

In Mexico, Lucy and Marco take Pope to meet a guy who got himself busted south of the border. The inmate reveals some “a rich white lady” had ordered a hit on the son who’d stolen from her. Pope suspects Lucy had paid the snitch to throw him off her scent. After all, if Smurf wanted anyone dead, she would’ve come to Pope.
While Lucy argues with Pope, Smurf shows up in the prison sporting a black eye. Smurf is offered to do three years in a minimum-security prison. All she has to do is give up her boys.
After stealing a getaway SUV with Billy, Craig finds himself flirting with Frankie (Dichen Lachman). Just when Billy takes a walk and leaves, Craig locks lips with Frankie. She’s not with Billy; he’s just a ride.
After treating to abandon Smurf, J ends up having sex with Mia once again. Deran and J get their oxygen masks as their next heist is underway. Elsewhere, Smurf is sprung from prison because the charges are being dropped.
