After two knockout issues, Beautiful Canvas #3 (Black Mask Studios) spills more blood and drops more bullets into this fast-paced crime thriller. In the action-packed issue, writer Ryan Lindsay (Negative Space) and artist Sami Kivela (Chum) steer their hard-bitten assassin deep into a complex and interesting moral crisis.
As we previously mentioned, Lon Eisley, a hit-woman, was hired to kill a small child. Alex. At the same time, Lon gets her latest orders after discovering her girlfriend pregnant. In a bold declaration of uncertainty, she saves the boy and hits the road. Her boss clearly wants the boy dead for a reason and will stop at nothing. This warped crime dystopia dives into the emotional dichotomy of creator/destroyer as Lon attempts to connect the two very different worlds she now inhabits.
Here are 5 reasons why you should buy Beautiful Canvas #3:
1) The Suit’s Awesome!
BEAUTIFUL CANVAS #3 lands this week, and I love this opening page from @sami_kivela @Treestumped – from fine comic emporiums worldwide. pic.twitter.com/otAMRrFgL1

Writer Ryan Lindsay imagines his female protagonist, Lon, wearing a high-powered armored suit. The white amor looks something out of Pacific Rim and Valerian. We got a taste of what the hi-tech suit can do in the second issue. And now in the third installment, Lindsay just lets loose!
2) The Fantastic Artwork!
Artist Sami Kivela captures the emotional core of Lon’s back-story in the opening pages. In the flashback, Kivela illustrates the tragedy and pain behind the hit-woman’s kill. In the foreground, we see the assassin putting together her silencer. In the background, we see the innocent life she will take away.
3) Fire Vs. Fire!
In a spectacular action sequence, we see the boy, Alex, fighting fire with fire. In one panel, we see what everybody else is seeing. In another panel, we see what Alex is thinking and how he perceives of himself. Lindsay and Kivela dish out the action and never forget about character development.
4) The Vivid Colors!
Colorist Triona Farrell deliver such a rich and vivid palette highlighting the pink and blue tones. In a epic panel layout, Asia starts out in front of a white background. You see how the colors switch as Asia transitions from one place to another.
5) A Fantasic Installment!
