With the surprise return of a major antagonist from the past, NBC continues the action and drama of Blindspot Season 3 with Episode 15: Deductions. Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) are back together solving the cases behind the mystery tattoos.
About a year ago, Cade (Tom Lipinski) was drugged and kidnapped. In the present day, Tasha (Audrey Esparza) flirts with Keaton (Chad Donella) when they both get urgent news about a plane crash. Kurt and Jane have to tell some bad news to Avery (Kristina Reyes) about her father. Avery’s father may have murdered someone, following Hank Crawford (David Morse)’s orders.
At the FBI office, Reade (Rob Brown) isn’t able to convince his superiors to investigate Hank Crawford. Halfway around the globe, Roman (Luke Mitchell) explains to Hank how his daughter Blake ((Tori Anderson) was kidnapped. At the crash site, Tasha realizes the Valkyrie plane is connected to Jane’s tattoos and the secret dragonfly project.
In her apartment, Jane discovers Kade pointing a gun at her and asking for help. In his standoff with Kurt, Cade wants his family back, revealing he was on the CIA plane that crashed. He promises to give himself up, offering a chance to find the survivors. Patterson (Ashley Johnson) tells the team that there were war criminals in that CIA plane, which was built by Hank’s industries.
With the plane hacked, it was meant to crash on purpose. Now that Blake’s kidnappers want 10 million for their return, Hank is thinking about sending a strike team. Cade reveals there was a prison riot in the plane and the mastermind is planning a building raid.
While Patterson combs social media, Tasha has Cade’s kid in for the deal. Roman asks a reluctant Hank to send him in with the strike team. After signing his deal, Cade finally sees his kid but he’s afraid of him. Cade gives up up Quinn (Carly Pope) as the mastermind just when she starts the raid.
Knowing a CIA outpost is under attack, Tasha figures out which place is the target. Keaton argues dragonfly project with his superior when he hears gunfire. While Keaton is taken hostage by Quinn, Roman sneaks into the nightclub and kills the rescue team. With Blake safe and sound, Hank is pleased with Roman. Roman realizes Hank planned the kidnapping and promises to keep the truth from Blake.
While Roman rescues Blake, Quinn records her video message and argues over her husband’s death. Keaton interrupts his boss’ execution when Jane and her team start shooting. Tasha ends up taking down Quinn, killing her.
Keaton goes back on Cade’s deal, sending him back to the CIA black site. After Cade holds Tasha hostage, Jane rushes in and fires a shot. Before dying, Cade reveals Tasha didn’t bring his son, the kid wasn’t his, his husband wasn’t contacted and she fudged the deal; it was always a set-up.
After Tasha argues with Reade, Avery cries over reading her father’s police report. In reality though, Avery’s father didn’t commit suicide; he was murdered.
Blindspot continues Fridays at 8m on NBC.
