A smash hit on The CW Network, Season One of Riverdale now makes its way onto Netflix. Recapture the teen angst, the torrid affairs, and the mystery behind the popular town from Archie Comics as viewers have a chance to Netflix and chill the entire first season.
Based on the Archie Comics series, Riverdale may look like a quaint small town but underneath the surface lurks a darker truth. Summer days are over when news breaks over the sudden tragic death of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines). Everyone wants to know who murdered the twin brother of the popular troublemaker, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch). But knowing the truth will have deadly consequences.
Here are 5 reasons why you should watch Riverdale on Netflix:
5. You can binge-watch 10 episodes!
According to Just Jared Jr., new viewers and followers can catch up with all the episodes. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Looking) has assembled darker and edgier versions of Archie characters in live-action form. Check out and see how Aguirre-Sacasa left clues in each episode leading up to the reveal of Jason’s Killer.
4. Bughead
In the comics, Archie Andrews (played by K.J. Apa) has to decide whether he should be with Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes). The CW drama steers away from convention and develops its own surprising relationships. I never would have shipped Jughead and Betty if it wasn’t for the chemistry between Cole Sprouse and Reinhart.
3. The Sexy Adults
In the town of Riverdale, even the adults are just as messed up as the teens. A welcome return after Beverly Hills 90210, Luke Perry knows exactly what type of show he’s on. Mädchen Amick has moved from one crazy town, Twin Peaks, to another. As Jughead’s alcoholic father, FP Jones, Skeet Ulrich (Scream) dominates his scenes, bringing out everybody’s A-Game.
2. It’s Got The Greg Berlanti Touch!
Executive Producer Greg Berlanti knows how to bring comic books to life. Berlanti has captured the fun and action of the DC Universe onto the shows, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. He even brought composer Blake Neely to score the music! See if you can spot the easter eggs hinting at Afterlife with Archie.
1. There’s More To Come!
With Riverdale renewed for Season 2, viewers will undoubtedly still be guessing if that charger was killed off in the cliffhanger.
Riverdale arrives on Netflix May 18th.
